Pop Sugar Must Have November 2014 Subscription Box Review

Happy Thursday everyone!2014-11-20 00.05.02

My box arrived on Tuesday a little dinged up, but everything inside survived!  Getting right down to business, here’s what was in this month’s must have box.2014-11-18 14.35.05

The Secret Recipes by Dominique Ansel- $352014-11-19 23.54.05

This is definitely my favorite item in the November box! It’s a book filled with pastry recipes by the maker of the Cronut. I love baking, and this book has some really good recipes, along with some I’ve never even heard of, so I’m excited to try some of them out. I will say, however, that I can definitely see how some people might not be excited to get this in their box…especially if you aren’t a baker, or creative type.

Sorial Saffiano Wallet on a Chain- $49 2014-11-19 23.52.10

I’ll probably use this at some point. Right now, I’m really satisfied with my wallet and other pouches in my tote, but I can see this coming in handy on trips. The chain is long enough to wear it as a crossbody bag, and it’s small enough, yet has enough space for just what you need when you’re out and about exploring new places. Also, the leather is vegan, which I don’t mind. It’s actually pretty good quality, but I’m not a fan of the fabric animal print interior.

K. Hall Simpatico Ambergris Shea Butter Cream- $22 2014-11-18 14.52.44

I think this was a great addition to this month’s box, as a lot of areas around the U.S. finally start to get cold this month, which means dry skin. I’m not overly excited about the scent, but I think it was a safe scent, because I don’t think anyone could really hate this scent. I’ll probably end up gifting this item to someone for Christmas, because I already have a Shea butter hand cream I carry with me everywhere, so I don’t really need this one.

Tiny Prints Thoughtful Heart Stationery- $15 + $25 gift card for tinyprints.com2014-11-19 23.57.31

I am excited to use the $25 dollar gift card on their website to get myself some stationery. I love having cute note cards and greeting cards on hand. The ones included in the box are simple note cards with envelopes that I’m sure I can use to send out thank you’s, or to write a note just because. I am slightly disappointed that the backs of the cards are branded with both tinyprints and PopSugar.

Wine Glass Writer Pens- $9.952014-11-18 14.54.10

These are cool. It’s a different take on the little charms or suction cup designs that companies sell as wine glass markers. Realistically, I won’t use these for wine glasses. I do see myself using them for writing on glass, or something else I’m sure I’ll think to use them for. Either way, I think they were a cool addition to this month’s box, because I think a lot of people will get use out of them during the holidays.

G.H. Cretors Chicago Mix Popped Corn- $3.69 2014-11-18 14.46.22

Food. That’s really all I’ve gotta say about this one! I haven’t even opened the bag yet, but I’m almost positive whatever is inside is going to be quite tasty! It does say it’s a mix of caramel and cheddar cheese…two flavors I don’t think I’ve ever combined. I’m still excited to try them though!

Overall Thoughts of the November Box:2014-11-18 14.43.30

I feel like this box was missing something. I don’t know why, I just feel like the past few boxes have had more to them. Not necessarily in value, but just more in general. I don’t know…maybe I’m just losing it. I do like this box, but really though, I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a box from them!2014-11-18 14.43.53

However, I will say this. Once it hits November, people are really thinking about the holidays, and 2 of the 6 things in this box were branded with Pop Sugar (which almost never happens). That’s perfectly fine if you love everything and keep it all, but many people around this time, decide to gift the things they don’t like to friends and family. Now obviously, I’m posting this on here, so if I gave something from this box to someone, they would know where it came from. But, if you aren’t someone who tells the world you receive this box, you might have wanted to gift the tinyprints cards or the wine glass writers to someone, and if you do, they will know it wasn’t something you picked out for them (because they are branded). Maybe I’m just going out on a limb, but I don’t think everyone likes gifting things that show they were obviously not purchased for the recipient.

Either way, I did like this box, and I’m excited to see what next month has in store!2014-11-18 21.22.53

    • I would contact PopSugar customer service. I do know that since they’ve updated their website, shipping times have been slower than they used to be, but they should be able to provide you with information as to why it hasn’t been received yet. :/ Sorry that happened to you!
