My Day in Pictures, 7/12/14

Just a quick peek at what my Saturday looked like!

I met some friends, David and Rachel, at Quality Grocery in the historic Oakwood neighborhood in downtown Raleigh for breakfast.  I had a bacon biscuit and some coffee and it was delicious!  I also shared a hash brown with my boyfriend as well.  I definitely recommend trying it out if you haven’t already.

We then went to the State Farmer’s Market and I purchased some bakery goods from Annelore’s German Bakery!  I just ate my apple strudel for breakfast this morning, and now I’m kinda upset that I didn’t get one for each day of the week!  The pastry was just the right amount of fluffy and crispy, and it wasn’t overly sweet like some people make them (with all that added sugar).  Rachel told me that instead of the bakery using all of that added sugar other bakeries use, they actually use local honey from one of the vendors at the farmer’s market to sweeten their bakery goods!  Yum!  I also purchased a Chocolate Raspberry Tulip (which my boyfriend ate and said was tasty), and a Chocolate Pistachio Shortbread (which i haven’t tried yet, but I’m sure is just as good!).

Later in the day, my boyfriend and I went to the Streets at Southpoint mall in Durham and after walking around a bit, had lunch at Zinburger.  I had a Plain and Simple burger and a glass of Riesling.  Michael had their specialty burger, The Brooklyn, which was loaded with pepperoni, smoked mozzarella, onions, peppers, and a few other things.  He loved it.  I’m not typically a burger person, but my lunch was quite tasty.  We also shared some onion rings dipped in BBQ sauce.

We stopped by Nordstrom Rack and I tried on these crazy shoes, because why not.

Also, Gabi was patiently waiting and trying to be cute for her ‘walkie time.’  We went on a walk to feed the turtles, and our snapping turtle friend decided to come up to the murky water surface just long enough for me to get a photo of him (or her).

Hopefully all of you also had a great weekend!
